After Care

Alright, gorgeous!

So you've got these amazing new locks – aren't they just fabulous?

Now, we want to keep them looking and feeling like the superstars they are, right? Think of them as your new best friends... they need a little TLC to stick around and keep turning heads! So, let's chat about how to pamper them (and yourself!) with a little aftercare wisdom. Don't worry, it's not brain surgery, just a few little things to keep in mind.

Giving Those Bonds Some Love (and Space!)

Now, those little attachments holding in all this gorgeousness? They're like tiny superheroes, but they need a little time to settle in and flex their super-grip. So, for the first 2-3 days, let's keep the hair washing to a minimum, okay? Think of it as letting them have a little honeymoon period to really bond (pun totally intended!).

Hydration is Key (Just Like for Us!)

These lovely extensions are real human hair, which means they get thirsty just like ours! Imagine them doing a little happy dance every time you treat them to some moisture. We absolutely adore a good Macadamia Mask – try to indulge them (and yourself!) about three times a week. It'll keep everything silky smooth and oh-so-touchable. Trust me, your extensions will thank you with extra swish!

A Little Heads-Up on Our Blonde Bombshells

Now, if you've gone for one of our stunning white blonde shades (you daring thing, you!), just know they need a little extra love. Think of them as the delicate divas of the hair world. They might need a little more attention and maybe a few more "top-up" appointments than our richer, more grounded shades. But hey, that's the price of looking absolutely angelic, right?

The Curious Case of the Fading Hue (It's Normal, Sweetie!)

Because these beauties got their gorgeous color in the factory, you might notice a little bit of the color washing out slightly in the first few washes. Don't panic! It's totally normal, like when your favorite jeans fade just a little bit after a few wears. To keep that color vibrant, let's stick to those lovely color-safe products we recommended. They're like a little bodyguard for your hair color!

The No-Wash Zone (For a Little While!)

Remember those superhero bonds? We really want them to set properly, so try your best to resist the urge to wash your hair for those first 2-3 days. Think of it as a mini spa break for your scalp and your new extensions. Let them do their thing and you'll be rewarded with long-lasting gorgeousness!

Our Magic Potion Recommendations

We've got some amazing aftercare goodies that we absolutely swear by in The Goddess Hair Tribe Guide To Hair Care range of recommended products. They're like a big hug for your hair extensions, helping to keep them soft, shiny, and just all-around fabulous. Think of them as the secret ingredient to maintaining that salon-fresh feeling. We highly recommend using them because, well, we want your hair to stay looking its absolute best!

A Little Scalp Grumble (Totally Normal!)

Now, when you first get these beauties installed, your scalp might feel a little… sensitive. It's like when you get a new piercing – it's just getting used to the extra bling! This usually settles down in a couple of days, so don't you worry your pretty little head. However, if it feels more like a persistent grumpy bear than a little tickle, definitely give us a shout. We want to make sure those bonds aren't feeling too snug.

The Great Escape (Of Natural Hair!)

Your natural hair is going to keep doing its thing and growing, which is fantastic! But as it grows, those little bonds can sometimes get a bit… friendly with each other and start to tangle at the roots. Think of it like a little slumber party gone slightly wrong. That's why regular brushing (the right way, which we'll get to!) and gently separating those bonds with your fingers is key to keeping everything happy and healthy up there.

A Little Break is Good for Everyone (Even Your Hair!)

We recommend letting your natural hair and scalp have a little breather every now and then. Think of it as a mini-vacation! Around every three months, a little break between installations is a lovely idea to keep everything in tip-top shape. If your feeling self-conscious chat to Goddess Hair Tribe about getting a lovely little volumizer or topper.

The Naughty List (Ingredients to Avoid!)

Now, there are a few cheeky ingredients hiding in some shampoos and conditioners that can be a bit mean to your extensions (and your natural hair!). We want to steer clear of things like sulphates and parabens. Think of them as the villains in our hair care story – they can dry things out, cause tangles, and even make those lovely bonds a bit sad.

A Little Shedding is Okay (We All Do It!)

Just like your own hair, it's perfectly normal to see a few strands when you brush. Think of it as saying goodbye to the old to make way for the new! The average person loses up to 100 strands a day, so don't panic if you see a few in your brush.

Colouring Adventures (Let's Be Cautious!)

We absolutely adore your creativity, but coloring these extensions yourself can be a bit of a risky adventure. It can sometimes lead to damage, and we wouldn't want that for your gorgeous new hair! If you're really itching for a change, let's chat, or definitely find a professional who knows their way around extensions. And always, always do a little test strand first – better safe than sorry, right? We can't be held responsible for any coloring mishaps, so let's tread carefully here! This also includes those silver shampoos – they can sometimes be a bit too enthusiastic with our lovely extensions.

Brushing Like a Boss (But Gently!)

Alright, brushing time! This is super important for keeping those extensions tangle-free and happy.

 * When Dry: Think gentle strokes, like you're petting a very fluffy kitten. Only use a hair extension brush – those bristles are designed to be kind to the bonds. Regular brushes with little balls on the end or wooden bristles can be a bit rough and might snag. Hold those bonds gently as you brush to avoid any unnecessary tugging. Start from the ends and work your way up, nice and slow. And remember, no brushing directly on the bonds themselves! Give them a little personal space. A little finger-separation of the bonds every now and then also helps prevent any unwanted knotting – think of it as a little hair extension social distancing! Don't over-brush either – we don't want to tire them out!

 * When Wet: Hair is at its most delicate when it's wet, so be extra gentle. Use a wide-tooth comb and lightly separate any strands. After towel-drying, brush very gently downwards with that wide-tooth comb to get rid of any little knots.

Washing Wisdom (Not Too Often!)

Remember those superhero bonds? We want them to stay strong, so try not to wash your hair too often – about 2-3 times a week is usually plenty. Over-washing can dry things out and put unnecessary stress on those bonds. When you do wash, be gentle! Smooth the shampoo down the hair, don't get too vigorous and create a soapy mosh pit. Make sure you're getting in between the bonds to clean your scalp, but try to avoid scrubbing directly on them. Conditioner is your friend, but only apply it from the mid-lengths to the ends – those bonds don't need it and it might make them a bit slippery. And always wash with warm water in an upright position – no upside-down hair washing in the tub, okay? That can lead to tangles! If you've got multiple colors, especially light and dark, be a little extra careful in those first few washes in case any of the colors decide to mingle. It's rare, but better to be safe than sorry! And remember, all hair color fades a little over time, especially those vibrant shades. It's just part of the hair journey!

Drying Delights (Keep it Cool!)

Heat is like the nemesis of those lovely bonds – it can make them soft and loose over time. So, when you're blow-drying, keep it on a cool setting, okay? Gently squeeze the excess water out with a towel – no rough rubbing! Then, dry section by section, using a wide-tooth comb to keep things smooth.

Styling Secrets (Heat Protection is Your BFF!)

Go ahead and rock those straighteners, tongs, and rollers! But please, please, please use a good quality heat protectant spray every single time. It's like sunscreen for your hair! And always keep the heat away from those precious bonds – we don't want them melting! Hairsprays, serums, and gels are fine on the lengths, just avoid spraying them directly onto the bonded areas as it might cause slippage.

Sweet Dreams (Tangles Beware!)

Before you hit the hay, give your hair a gentle braid or a loose ponytail. This will help prevent any unwanted tangles while you're catching those Z's. And never, ever go to bed with wet hair – it's just asking for trouble!

Life's Adventures (A Few Little Things to Consider!)

 * Swimming: We'd recommend giving the swimming pool and the ocean a miss if you can. Saltwater and chlorine can be a bit harsh on your extensions, potentially causing dryness, matting, and weakening those bonds. If you do decide to take a dip, braid your hair and rinse it thoroughly with fresh water afterwards. But just know it's at your own risk!

 * Sunbeds: If you're catching some rays on a sunbed, it's a good idea to wrap your hair up. UV light can be a bit mean to the bonds and the hair color.

 * Sunshine Holidays: If you're jetting off to somewhere sunny, pack a good UV protection spray for your hair! Hot climates can dry things out, so keep your extensions well-nourished and hydrated. You might also find that the water abroad has different minerals that could affect your hair.

 * Saunas and Steam Rooms: If you're a fan of a good sweat session, make sure you dry your bonds thoroughly afterwards. Leaving them damp for long periods isn't ideal.

 * Discoloration: Sometimes, even with the best care, hair extensions can experience a bit of discoloration. This can be due to things like minerals in the water, hard water, UV rays, chlorine, and other factors that are often out of our control. It's not usually a manufacturing issue, but something to be aware of, especially if you're washing your hair with water that has high mineral content.

Phew! That might seem like a lot, but trust me, it'll become second nature in no time. Think of it as just giving your gorgeous new hair the love and attention it deserves! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. We're always here to help you keep your hair looking absolutely amazing! Now go out there and rock those extensions! You look incredible! ✨
